Characters
- Boobie Ike
Boobie Ike is a fictional Vice City businessman in Grand Theft Auto 6, "a local Vice City legend" in Rockstar's words, who owns the Jack of Hearts strip club, real estate and a recording studio, and runs the label Only Raw Records with Dre'Quan Priest. He is not a real person, and Rockstar has not said he is based on one.
- Brian Heder
Brian Heder is a veteran drug smuggler in Grand Theft Auto 6's Leonida Keys, Jason Duval's landlord and boss, who still moves product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori. The actor Stephen Root said in September 2026 that he is in the game without naming his part, and he is widely reported to play Brian.
- Cal Hampton
Cal Hampton is Jason Duval's paranoid friend in Grand Theft Auto 6, a fellow associate of the Leonida Keys drug runner Brian Heder who, in Rockstar's words, "feels safest hanging at home, snooping on Coast Guard comms with a few beers and some private browser tabs open". His speech about "glory days" closes An Extended Look, and Rockstar has not named his actor.
- Cast
Rockstar has not announced the cast of Grand Theft Auto 6 or said who plays Jason and Lucia, as of Oct 10, 2026. Stephen Root says he is in the game and is widely reported to play Brian Heder, Jim Santangeli says he has a small part, and famous musicians host the radio stations, according to Rolling Stone and Pitchfork.
- Characters
The people around Jason and Lucia in Grand Theft Auto 6: Brian Heder, Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, the rap duo Real Dimez, the bank robber Raul Bautista, and the smaller parts seen in the trailers and the Extended Look.
- Dre'Quan Priest
Dre'Quan Priest is a Vice City hustler turned music manager in Grand Theft Auto 6. He runs the record label Only Raw Records with the strip club owner Boobie Ike, has just signed the rap duo Real Dimez, and books the acts at Boobie's Jack of Hearts club.
- Jason Duval
Jason Duval is one of Grand Theft Auto 6's two playable leads: an Army veteran who left the service on bad terms and ended up running drugs in the Leonida Keys, Lucia Caminos' partner, and a tenant of the drug runner Brian Heder. Rockstar has not named the actor who plays him.
- Lucia Caminos
Lucia Caminos is one of Grand Theft Auto 6's two playable leads: a fighter just out of Leonida Penitentiary, Jason Duval's partner, and the first woman to lead a main Grand Theft Auto game.
- Raul Bautista
Raul Bautista is the bank robber of Grand Theft Auto 6, a charming, reckless veteran who recruits talent for big scores. Jason and Lucia meet him as his getaway drivers in An Extended Look and join his crew, and he is on the game's cover with a rifle in front of the Sin Frontera National Bank.
- Real Dimez
Real Dimez are Bae-Luxe and Roxy, a rap duo and social media act in Grand Theft Auto 6. High school friends who made their name shaking down local dealers and rapping about it, they had an early hit with the rapper DWNPLY and are now signed to Only Raw Records, Dre'Quan Priest and Boobie Ike's label.
Development
- Development
Grand Theft Auto 6 has been in the works since the mid-2010s, in full production since 2020, and is made by a Rockstar that more than doubled in size after Red Dead Redemption 2. It runs on the RAGE engine at 30 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with no PC version announced and no streaming to PC at launch.
- Leaks
Grand Theft Auto 6 has leaked more than almost any game: 90 videos of early footage stolen from Rockstar's Slack in September 2022, a development kit photo in 2025, and in August 2026 an account called CyberLeek posting map and gameplay footage for a meme coin, until Rockstar spoke up the day before the Extended Look. CyberLeek came back on Oct 8, 2026 with 25 minutes more, threatened the whole build, and said on Oct 14 that its leaks had stopped.
Gameplay
- Activities and Stats
Jason and Lucia have health, stamina and Focus bars that food boosts for a while and workouts raise for good; their bodies change with eating and exercise; safehouses are full of things to use; and Leonida offers gyms, sports, diving, racing and robberies of every size.
- Cars and Driving
Stealing a car in Grand Theft Auto 6 depends on the car: older ones open with a slim jim, newer ones need a key cloner and may carry trackers, a phone app tells you what a car is worth, and fences buy what you take. Driving is heavier, streets are narrower, and there is fuel.
- Combat and Focus
Grand Theft Auto 6 drops the series' hard lock-on for aim assist, keeps cover, brings back crouching, adds shoulder swaps, marks hits as wounds, takedowns or kills, and gives Jason and Lucia Focus, a slow-motion ability that shows lethal and non-lethal weak points on people and vehicles.
- Criminal Profile
Criminal Profile is Grand Theft Auto 6's reputation system: separate for Jason and Lucia, it tracks whether they commit crimes like professionals or with needless violence, can change how the world and the story treat them, and can be ruined for good.
- Jason and Lucia's Relationship
Grand Theft Auto 6 is built around a couple, and how close Jason and Lucia become is up to the player: time together, dates, texts and holding hands build it, ignoring each other wears it down, it can stay unromantic, and it never ends their partnership in crime.
- Phone and Social Media
Jason and Lucia's phones carry Grand Theft Auto 6's parody of 2020s life: a working social media feed that points to real events in the world, Snapmatic, banking, ride-hailing, texting and fitness apps, alongside more satirical TV adverts than ever. Cash, bank money and loot are kept apart.
- Wanted System
Grand Theft Auto 6 brings back a six-star wanted level and adds heat: the police can know your face, your clothes, your car, your weapon and your partner, you can be caught on camera, police no longer show on the minimap, and changing what they know is how you shake them.
Gameplay Guides
- Beginner's Guide
Before playing Grand Theft Auto 6, know that you can switch between Jason and Lucia at almost any time, the police track your clothes, car, weapon and partner under six stars, a Criminal Profile records how you commit crimes, food and gyms build health, stamina and Focus, and the story sometimes waits until you have made enough money.
- GTA 6 vs GTA 5
Grand Theft Auto 6 has a map twice the size of Grand Theft Auto V's, a couple instead of three men, six wanted stars with a heat system instead of five, no hard lock-on, heavier driving with fuel, robberies anywhere instead of only scripted heists, and a $79.99 price on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S only, 13 years after GTA V's $60 launch.
- Heists and Robberies
In Grand Theft Auto 6 you can rob almost any store you can walk into, from convenience stores, pawn shops and payday loan offices to jewelry stores and banks, alone or as a couple and outside missions; loot is sold to fences, the story sometimes waits until you have made enough money, and Rockstar has shown story heists such as a bank job and a getaway for the bank robber Raul Bautista.
- Map
The Grand Theft Auto 6 map is Leonida, Rockstar's version of Florida, about twice the size of Grand Theft Auto V's map and three times Red Dead Redemption 2's, with six regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga. Rockstar has given no area in square miles; the state also has local storms, hurricanes and water to dive in.
- Money
Money in Grand Theft Auto 6 comes in three kinds: a bank balance that is safe, cash that is lost when you die or get busted until you pay it in at an ATM, and loot that is worth nothing until a fence buys it. You earn it by robbing stores, banks and gang compounds, by stealing cars for fences and by hunting, and at certain points the story waits until you have made enough.
- Safehouses and Properties
You cannot buy safehouses in Grand Theft Auto 6: they unlock as the story goes on, starting with Jason's house in the Leonida Keys and an apartment in Vice City. What you can buy is garages, which hold personal and stolen vehicles, and two named garages come with the Vintage Vice City Pack and the Ultimate Edition.
- Story and Missions
Grand Theft Auto 6's story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a couple pulled into a criminal conspiracy across the state of Leonida after an easy score goes wrong. It is told in chapters, its missions can often be finished more than one way, some open only once you have made enough money, and choices big and small shape how it ends. Rockstar has published no mission list as of Oct 12, 2026.
- Vehicles
Rockstar has named seven Grand Theft Auto 6 vehicles as of Oct 10, 2026: Jason's Vapid Ganado pickup, the '55 Vapid Stanier, the '95 Grotti Cheetah, the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, the Dinka Enduro motorcycle, the Shitzu Squalo boat and the Crest Kayak. Its trailers, screenshots and An Extended Look also show supercars, muscle cars, police cruisers, vans, tow trucks, sport bikes, dirt bikes, ATVs, airboats, jet skis, seaplanes and helicopters, and the launch trailer of Oct 15, 2026 adds a hypercar police chase, a dirt bike jump, a sponsored prop plane and Lucia leaping from a truck onto a plane.
- Weapons
Rockstar has not published a Grand Theft Auto 6 weapons list as of Oct 10, 2026; the only guns it has named are the Ultimate Edition's Hawk & Little Morgan revolver and Jason's Girardi ES9 and Lucia's Klose K17 pistols, while its footage shows pistols, shotguns, submachine guns, assault rifles, a hunting rifle, Molotovs and sticky bombs. You carry two handguns and up to two long guns, and the rest stays in your personal vehicle.
Launch Guides
- Age Rating
Grand Theft Auto 6 is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB, PEGI 18 in Europe and R 18+ in Australia and New Zealand, for violence, sex, nudity, drugs and strong language. The ESRB's seven content descriptors are word for word the ones Grand Theft Auto V carries, with an In-Game Purchases notice and no gambling descriptor.
- GTA Online
Grand Theft Auto 6 has no online mode at launch: Rockstar sells it as "a single-player experience" on Nov 19, 2026, and as of Oct 10, 2026 it has announced no GTA 6 online or multiplayer mode and no date for one. GTA Online, the online game of Grand Theft Auto V, carries on, and Take-Two says it will keep supporting it after GTA 6 comes out.
- Launch Guide
To be ready for Grand Theft Auto 6 on Nov 19, 2026, pre-order on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X or S before Nov 20 to get the Vintage Vice City Pack, clear space and pre-load from Nov 12, and know your unlock time, which is midnight in your store's region and 9 p.m. Pacific on Nov 18 in the United States. This checklist covers each step and what is still unknown.
- PC Version
No PC version of Grand Theft Auto 6 has been announced as of Oct 10, 2026. Rockstar has announced the game only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, so there is no PC release date, no Steam page and no PC system requirements, and Xbox said on Oct 7, 2026 that the game will not stream to PC either.
- Platforms and Performance
Grand Theft Auto 6 runs on PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and on no PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch 2 or PC, at 30 frames per second on consoles, Rockstar North's Rob Nelson said in August 2026. The PlayStation Store lists it as PS5 Pro Enhanced, but as of Oct 10, 2026 neither Sony nor Rockstar has said what the Pro adds.
- Release Time
Grand Theft Auto 6 unlocks at midnight local time on Thursday, Nov 19, 2026, according to the PlayStation Store's regional listings, starting in New Zealand at 11:00 UTC on Nov 18 and reaching the whole United States at midnight Eastern, which is 9 p.m. Pacific on Nov 18. Digital pre-orders can be pre-loaded from Nov 12, the day the boxed copy, a download code, reaches stores.
Media
- An Extended Look
Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look is 27 minutes of game footage that premiered on Netflix on Aug 27, 2026 and on YouTube six hours later: the first official gameplay, following Jason and Lucia from a drug pickup gone wrong to a bodyguard job at a Vice City party.
- Music and Radio
Grand Theft Auto 6 has what Rockstar calls the biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio yet. Six stations were previewed on Oct 8, 2026, with hosts including Bad Bunny, Lana Del Rey, Morgan Wallen and Slayer; radio and new on-demand podcasts play on foot through headphones, and an album of 34 original songs comes out with the game on Nov 19.
- Soundtrack
The songs confirmed for Grand Theft Auto 6, as of Oct 10, 2026, are eight singles from "Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album" (34 original tracks, out Nov 19, 2026), the 18 songs Rockstar played in its previews of six radio stations, and the songs of its videos, led by Tom Petty's "Love Is a Long Road" in Trailer 1 and the Pointer Sisters' "Hot Together" in Trailer 2. Justice's "Grand Theft Auto VI: Original Score" follows on Dec 11, 2026.
- Trailers
Rockstar has shown Grand Theft Auto 6 in three story trailers, Trailer 1 on Dec 4, 2023, Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025 and the launch trailer on Oct 15, 2026, besides a cover art video on Jun 18, 2026 and the 27-minute Extended Look on Aug 27, 2026.

Reception
- Fan Reaction
How players took Grand Theft Auto 6's reveals, from the first trailer's record views through two delays to the Extended Look: excitement at the density and the looks, dread at every new date, a running "before GTA 6" joke, and arguments over Jason, 30 frames per second and the Ultimate Edition.

Grand Theft Auto 6 costs $79.99, or $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, with pre-orders open since Jun 25, 2026. Everyone who buys before Nov 20 gets the Vintage Vice City Pack, digital pre-orders add a month of GTA+, and the boxed copy holds a download code instead of a disc. World
- Ambrosia
Ambrosia is the sugar town at the heart of Grand Theft Auto 6's Leonida, where the Allied Crystal sugar refinery "provides the jobs, while the local biker gang provides almost everything else", in Rockstar's words; the gang is a motorcycle club called the Final Chapter. Rockstar names no real model, but the press and creators compare it to Florida's sugar towns of Clewiston and Belle Glade on Lake Okeechobee.
- Animals
Grand Theft Auto 6 has more than 170 animal species, Game Informer reported on Sep 29, 2026, from alligators, manatees, flamingos and pelicans to invasive iguanas, cane toads and monkeys, with sharks and whales offshore and rare, discoverable and legendary animals to track. Fishing is catch and release, and hunting is a way to make money.
- Grassrivers
The Grassrivers is Grand Theft Auto 6's swamp, Rockstar's take on Florida's Everglades: wetlands of mangroves, airboats and alligators that Rockstar calls "the untamable jewel of Leonida's crown", where "there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries" than the gators.
- Leonida
Leonida is Grand Theft Auto 6's version of Florida, a state twice the size of Grand Theft Auto V's map: Vice City and its suburbs, the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers wetlands, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga, with local storms, hurricanes and more than 170 animal species.
- Leonida Keys
The Leonida Keys are Grand Theft Auto 6's version of the Florida Keys, a tropical island chain of bridges, beach bars, boats and coral reefs where Jason Duval lives and works for local drug runners. Rockstar sums them up as "The dress code is casual, the bars are loaded."
- Mount Kalaga
Mount Kalaga National Park is Grand Theft Auto 6's national park and hunting ground, a wild region against the northern border of Leonida that Rockstar says "offers prime hunting, fishing, and off-road trails". Its screenshots show a cougar stalking deer, hunters with rifles, dirt bikes in the mud and a kayaker, and Rockstar says its backwoods hide "hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals".
- Port Gellhorn
Port Gellhorn is "Leonida's forgotten coast" in Grand Theft Auto 6, a faded vacation town of cheap motels, shut-down attractions and empty strip malls, home to the Starlet Motel and the Delights cabaret club. Rockstar has not named a real model, but "Forgotten Coast" is the nickname of a stretch of Florida's Panhandle.
- Vice City
Vice City is Grand Theft Auto 6's version of Miami and the heart of the state of Leonida: the first new Grand Theft Auto set there since 2006, now in the present day and twice the size of Grand Theft Auto V's Los Santos.
