Editions and Pre-orders
Grand Theft Auto 6 costs $79.99, or $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, with pre-orders open since Jun 25, 2026. Everyone who buys before Nov 20 gets the Vintage Vice City Pack, digital pre-orders add a month of GTA+, and the boxed copy holds a download code instead of a disc. A $400 collector's box and two limited-edition PlayStation controllers arrive the same day as the game.
Grand Theft Auto 6 went up for pre-order at midnight local time on Jun 25, 2026, on the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, Rockstar's own store and at other retailers. There are two editions: the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Pre-loading opens on Nov 12, a week before the Nov 19 release. Hazard, who broke the editions down the day pre-orders opened, found the standard price a little higher than he expected and the Ultimate a little lower. On Oct 10, 2026 the PlayStation Store still listed both editions at those prices, each with a seven-day pre-load.

The Vintage Vice City Pack
Every copy bought before Nov 20 comes with the Vintage Vice City Pack, which in Rockstar's words will "flash back to when the neon burned brightest": a two-tone '55 Vapid Stanier sedan with a garage on Shore Court, near Ocean Beach, that has a weapon locker and a place to leave stolen goods for fencing; Jason's pastel linen suit and Lucia's red sequin mini dress, with matching hairstyles; and a weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti's palm tree shirt. Hazard sees Miami Vice, Scarface and the original Vice City in all of it.
Digital pre-orders also get a month of GTA+, the Grand Theft Auto Online membership, which Hazard warns renews automatically unless you cancel it. Both extras come with either edition. Changing your mind is possible: a digital pre-order can be refunded before release on PlayStation only until it starts downloading, pre-load included, and on Xbox through the account's order history; see Cancel a Pre-order. The game is not in Game Pass or PlayStation Plus at launch (Game Pass and PS Plus).
The Ultimate Edition
Rockstar describes the Ultimate Edition as "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action", with items "threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story" and more uncovered in each chapter. It includes a '95 Grotti Cheetah, engraved Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers for both leads, personalized versions of Jason's Girardi ES9 and Lucia's Klose K17 pistols, outfits and tattoos, an Army-fatigue Dinka Enduro motorcycle and a Crest kayak at Jason's safehouse, mods for Jason's Vapid Ganado pickup, a '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy with a garage in Watson Bay, and a Squalo fishing boat with a crate of explosives.
The part that drew criticism is five shops that are "only open for business with the Ultimate Edition", in Rockstar's words: Rideout Customs for donk builds, an off-road mod shop at Lake Leonida, Sara's Unisex Salon, the Stock 305 streetwear store and Electric Fang Tattoo, with more than 50 tattoos by the artist collective FAILE. It also adds a Goodtime gear collection themed on the television character Macca the Gator, a raid on the compound of the Southside gang PTT Youngin$, and a job restoring abandoned classic cars for the collector and fixer Wyman.
Hazard recommends the Ultimate Edition to those who can afford it, and notes that it can be bought later as an upgrade. He doubts the five shops are more than a small share of the game's car customization, though if they turn out to be a big part of it, he calls that "a scummy move". Players and journalists criticized the content kept behind the Ultimate Edition all the same, and TheGamer called the amount "ridiculous".
No disc in the box
The physical edition is a box with a download code inside, in stores from Nov 12 so that it can be pre-loaded like a digital copy. The common reading is that Rockstar wants to stop leaks from early copies. IGN's Simon Cardy called it "about control and secrecy": with no disc there are no trade-ins or second-hand copies, and he argued it had nothing to do with production costs. Some retailers refused to stock it. The game's soundtrack album, by contrast, comes on vinyl and CD; see Music and Radio.
The collector's box
On Sep 24, 2026, Rockstar opened pre-orders for the Goodtime State - Vice City Collection, a collector's box "inspired by Leonida's hit TV show, Macca the Gator", sold while supplies last and arriving on Nov 19. It holds a six-inch Macca the Gator figure with a stash compartment, matte black Oakley Frogskins sunglasses, a New Era snapback, a Macca the Gator mirror, a Vice City swizzle spoon and razor blade keychain, a Leonida Keys crossbody bag, a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass, enamel pins, stickers, and a double-sided poster of the whole of Leonida. The game is "sold separately".
It costs $400, Kotaku reported, and drew more complaints than praise: fans had hoped for something of Jason and Lucia rather than characters from an in-game TV show nobody had seen yet. As one of them put it, "We wanted Jason and Lucia, and we got an alligator instead."
Controllers and merchandise
Sony showed two limited-edition DualSense controllers at its State of Play on Sep 3, 2026: a white one inspired by Vice City "at daybreak" and a black one by its nightlife, both with a color-shifting finish and palm trees molded into the shell. They cost $84.99 (€84.99, £74.99), went up for pre-order on Sep 10 and arrive on Nov 19. The white one is sold at PlayStation Direct and other retailers, the black one only at PlayStation Direct where it is available. On Oct 8 Rockstar's own store added a collection of Grand Theft Auto 6 shirts, caps, tote bags, a keychain, a money clip and a Zippo lighter.
Sales
Take-Two did not give figures, but its chief executive, Strauss Zelnick, called pre-order sales in the June quarter "unprecedented and astonishing", and most buyers chose the Ultimate Edition. Sensor Tower estimated that 89% of pre-orders were for the Ultimate Edition, against a usual premium share of about half of pre-orders. Newzoo estimated a record $260 million in the first seven days and forecast 37 to 51 million copies sold in the launch week.
A month before launch, Sensor Tower estimated about 6.45 million pre-orders worth about $630 million: 4.8 million on PlayStation 5 (about 74%) and 1.66 million on Xbox (Insider Gaming, Oct 20, 2026). These are an analytics firm's estimates; Rockstar and Take-Two have not given a pre-order figure.
The cover
The cover art, revealed on Jun 18, follows the series' grid of panels. Top left, as on almost every cover since Grand Theft Auto III, is a helicopter: a Sea Sparrow, first seen in the original Vice City, here with a minigun, which suggests helicopters can be armed. IGN reads the colors and the synthwave music of the reveal as a deliberate nod to the 1980s of Vice City.
One panel shows a woman in a bikini with a drink, a nod to the original Vice City cover. IGN reads the details: a jersey in the turquoise of the Vice City Manatees, the game's Miami Dolphins, a "Vice Baby" tattoo, and a 305 tattoo for Miami's area code.
An alligator takes a panel of its own, for the Grassrivers, and another has a speedboat under a flamingo. The rest are Jason and Lucia, a rider on a pink and purple sports bike beside a police cruiser, Boobie Ike, Raul Bautista at the Sin Frontera National Bank, and a yellow supercar with scissor doors. See Characters and Leonida.

Six stations were previewed on Oct 8, 2026, with hosts including Bad Bunny, Lana Del Rey, Morgan Wallen and Slayer; radio and new on-demand podcasts play on foot through headphones, and an album of 34 original songs comes out with the game on Nov 19. -

GrassriversThe Grassrivers is Grand Theft Auto 6's swamp, Rockstar's take on Florida's Everglades: wetlands of mangroves, airboats and alligators that Rockstar calls "the untamable jewel of Leonida's crown", where "there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries" than the gators.
