Lucia Caminos
Lucia Caminos is one of Grand Theft Auto 6's two playable leads: a fighter just out of Leonida Penitentiary, Jason Duval's partner, and the first woman to lead a main Grand Theft Auto game.
Lucia Caminos is one of the two playable protagonists of Grand Theft Auto 6, with Jason Duval, and the first woman to lead a main Grand Theft Auto game: earlier games only let players pick a female avatar with no voice or story of her own. Trailer 1, which opens on her prison interview, has her lay out the plan for the couple: "The only way we're gonna get through this is by sticking together. Being a team." Rockstar's description: her father taught her "to fight as soon as she could walk", life "has been coming at her swinging ever since", and fighting for her family landed her in Leonida Penitentiary. She wants the good life her mother once pictured for her, but "instead of half-baked fantasies, Lucia is prepared to take matters into her own hands."

Out of prison
Trailer 2 shows Jason picking her up from Leonida Penitentiary. IGN points out the electronic ankle tag she leaves with, first seen on the game's key art and visible in several later shots, and an orange Leonida Department of Corrections vest in a scene where she picks up litter, a hint that her release comes with community service.
On the cover art she stands beside Jason holding a short pistol. Rockstar's site sums up where she is now: "Lucia's learned her lesson, only smart moves from here." IGN adds that a gun in her hand does not look like the smartest move. See Editions and Pre-orders for the cover.
A fighter
In An Extended Look Lucia is the one who fights hand to hand. Gameranx calls her "more of the fighter", with "some real pro skills" in her animations and what may be a counter move, and wonders how far the combat has changed from Grand Theft Auto V.
TGG calls her fight "a massive step up" from Grand Theft Auto V and, he thinks, from Red Dead Redemption 2. He also noticed that her health bar looks shorter than Jason's, and wonders whether she makes up for it in skill, since she is a trained fighter.
In a robbery she fires a pump-action shotgun with one hand while carrying two duffel bags of loot. Carrying two is an option, TGG says, and Rockstar told him that loot bags can be stored in vehicles, how many depending on the vehicle: none on a bike, a couple in a car, more in a van. See Combat and Focus.
Jason and Lucia
The player can switch between the two, keep them together or send them their separate ways. In IGN's demo, splitting up in the middle of a crime spree threw off police looking for a couple, and when one of them got into trouble with a stranger, the other backed them up. How their relationship works, and why it cannot be ended, is on Jason and Lucia's Relationship. Their story starts, in Rockstar's words, when "an easy score goes wrong".
In the launch trailer
Rockstar's launch trailer of Oct 15, 2026 brings her in by phone: after Jason, at a marina in the Keys, admits he left the Army on bad terms, a recorded voice announces "a free call from Lucia Caminos" and the question "Are we gonna be okay?" follows over a montage of the couple's heists and chases. Near the end comes the line "We've stuck together through everything. Just gotta get through it.", which echoes her Trailer 1 promise of sticking together (Rockstar Games). See Trailers.
How players took her
After the Extended Look, reviewers and players warmed to Lucia more than to Jason, many for her inventive takedowns. penguinz0, disappointed by Jason's flat delivery, said "we saw a little bit more from Lucia" in the footage. See Fan Reaction.

Grand Theft Auto 6Grand Theft Auto 6, often written GTA 6, is Rockstar Games' next Grand Theft Auto: a single player crime story about Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos in the Florida-like state of Leonida, coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S on Nov 19, 2026. -
Jason DuvalJason Duval is one of Grand Theft Auto 6's two playable leads: an Army veteran who left the service on bad terms and ended up running drugs in the Leonida Keys, Lucia Caminos' partner, and a tenant of the drug runner Brian Heder. Rockstar has not named the actor who plays him. -
Editions and Pre-ordersGrand Theft Auto 6 costs $79.99, or $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, with pre-orders open since Jun 25, 2026. Everyone who buys before Nov 20 gets the Vintage Vice City Pack, digital pre-orders add a month of GTA+, and the boxed copy holds a download code instead of a disc. A $400 collector's box and two limited-edition PlayStation controllers arrive the same day as the game. -
An Extended LookGrand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look is 27 minutes of game footage that premiered on Netflix on Aug 27, 2026 and on YouTube six hours later: the first official gameplay, following Jason and Lucia from a drug pickup gone wrong to a bodyguard job at a Vice City party.
-
Combat and FocusGrand Theft Auto 6 drops the series' hard lock-on for aim assist, keeps cover, brings back crouching, adds shoulder swaps, marks hits as wounds, takedowns or kills, and gives Jason and Lucia Focus, a slow-motion ability that shows lethal and non-lethal weak points on people and vehicles. -
Jason and Lucia's RelationshipGrand Theft Auto 6 is built around a couple, and how close Jason and Lucia become is up to the player: time together, dates, texts and holding hands build it, ignoring each other wears it down, it can stay unromantic, and it never ends their partnership in crime.
