Activities and Stats
Jason and Lucia have health, stamina and Focus bars that food boosts for a while and workouts raise for good; their bodies change with eating and exercise; safehouses are full of things to use; and Leonida offers gyms, sports, diving, racing and robberies of every size.
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos each have three bars in the top left corner of the screen: health, stamina and Focus, which looks like Red Dead Redemption 2's Dead Eye but works differently (see Combat and Focus). TGG, who watched two and a half hours of play at Rockstar North, explains that all three can be raised for good by working out and by side activities, much as in Red Dead Redemption 2, and topped up for a while by consumables such as food, drinks and protein bars, which push a bar past its normal level until it is used up.
Quick facts

| Robberies | Stores, jewelers and banks, alone or together, all over the map |
Bodies and bars
In An Extended Look, Jason's health bar has an extension past its middle mark, most likely from something he has eaten. That extra is a one-off, TGG explains: once health drops below the mark, it only refills to the mark, and you need another snack to push past it again. Workouts, above all at the gym, are what raise the mark itself.
Fans who saw Lucia on the bench press thought of Carl Johnson in San Andreas, and IGN confirmed with Rockstar that the two can gain and lose fat and muscle depending on how much they eat and exercise, with some of it tied to stats: eating raises health. Sleep may be tracked too, and staying awake for days on end shows on their faces.
Gyms
Nelson was clear with TGG that none of this is compulsory: you can finish the game without setting foot in a gym. Those who do get small boosts to health, stamina or Focus.
TGG watched Nelson take the couple to a gym. You buy a membership at the front desk. By the changing rooms, a vending machine sells, among much else, a protein shake that gave Lucia a temporary stamina and strength boost for more reps. One set of bench presses, eight reps as TGG remembers it, filled a third of her workout ring, and three strength exercises earn a health boost for a while.
The gym has its own app on the phone to track fitness. Strength work boosts health, and other exercises, such as the treadmill, boost stamina; do three weight exercises in an in-game day and you get the boost.
Safehouses
The apartment the couple use in the Extended Look is full of things to use: you can switch the lights, open the fridge and take a beer, which does nothing for your stats, or a Blitzberry smoothie, which raises stamina and Focus for a while. In the session TGG watched, Nelson ate an apple for health and then threw the core in the bin.
IGN saw an upgraded kind of safehouse where the couple can grab a drink from the fridge, give themselves a new hairstyle and spend time together. They look much closer to Red Dead Redemption 2's camps than to earlier Grand Theft Auto safehouses, which suggests ways to make them your own. Where they are and what can be bought is on Safehouses and Properties.
Things to do
Trailer 2 and Rockstar's May 2025 screenshots already pointed to mini golf, pool, fishing, basketball, kayaking, scuba diving and dirt bike racing, and one shot shows a games console under a television.
The Extended Look confirmed several: Jason shooting hoops in his driveway, which gameranx notes is a natural fit for a company that owns NBA 2K, a scuba dive, and Lucia working out with the controller's triggers.
There is backyard wrestling, with Jason being body-slammed, and the world has its own crime: TGG spotted other characters robbing a security van, something only the player did in Grand Theft Auto V.
Much of it happens on the water, as befits a Florida stand-in: IGN picks out fan boats and kayaking, which the couple can do together.
There is also a shooting range, which TGG did not expect, and where Lucia swaps from an empty rifle to a pistol. Racing is on Cars and Driving.
Robberies
The Extended Look cuts three robberies together, from a corner store to a jeweler to a bank. "Those are three robberies cut together," Nelson told TGG, "but that's an example of showing that you can do these robberies all over the open world. You can do these robberies by yourself or you can do them together. Making money this way off mission is an important part of the game." Nelson also told him that at certain points the story may wait until you have made enough money, so the open world is tied to the story more than in Grand Theft Auto V.

Safehouses and PropertiesYou cannot buy safehouses in Grand Theft Auto 6: they unlock as the story goes on, starting with Jason's house in the Leonida Keys and an apartment in Vice City. What you can buy is garages, which hold personal and stolen vehicles, and two named garages come with the Vintage Vice City Pack and the Ultimate Edition.

Cars and DrivingStealing a car in Grand Theft Auto 6 depends on the car: older ones open with a slim jim, newer ones need a key cloner and may carry trackers, a phone app tells you what a car is worth, and fences buy what you take. Driving is heavier, streets are narrower, and there is fuel.
